We are still excited about 2025, while sadly in Nigeria, the pageant world mourns Edna Park-Ibru, Miss Nigeria 1964. The eighty-year-old was the first Nigerian in the Miss Universe pageant. Oh yes! Back in 1964, Edna Park was on the international stage, representing Nigeria.
After her reign as Miss Nigeria 1964/5, she went on to marry Chief Felix Ibru, a wealthy and successful business man. Her beauty and elegance stood out every where she turned up.
Therefore, when her husband became the governor of the oil-rich Delta state of Nigeria, Edna was the talk of the country. Her poise and beauty was eye-catching.
While sadly in Nigeria we mourn this worthy ambassador, we celebrate her life with us. Even as far back as 1964, beauty with purpose was Edna Park-Ibru’s way of life. As a beauty queen and after, she was passionate about improving the lives of those around her.
Finally, her opportunity came to reach out to many as the First Lady of the state and she excelled. However, after her time as First Lady, she quietly continued her goodwill in her community.
